In 1969 Fender introduced an all-Rosewood Telecaster, designed by German master builder Roger Rossmeisl. Although some Telecaster Customs were made with an ash body, most were made with alder, and a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. There was also a preamp “Overdrive” unit mounted in the rear of the body. They are wired individually so coil-splitting options are possible. Released in 2013, this Telecaster honors solo guitarist Richie Kotzen who has used Fender Telecasters and Stratocasters for most of his career including in stints with Poison and Mr. Big. The guitar featured a six-saddle string through body hardtail bridge and three pickups; two exposed humbucker pickups at the bridge and neck positions and a single-coil Strat pickup in the middle. The three-saddle bridge interestingly is top-loading allowing it to be strung through the body or the bridge. The Tele Jr. is notable for being an attempt to offer a Fender guitar with many Gibson-like features and was discontinued in 2001. The neck is a one-piece deep C profile maple neck with a maple fretboard. The Deluxe Telecaster also had a larger Stratocaster style headstock, Stratocaster-style string saddles, jumbo-sized frets, and four knob controls (a dedicated tone and volume control for each pickup). The body also had contours and a regular Telecaster bridge plate. Candy Apple Red was added in 1965 (GM/Cadillac), along with Firemist Gold (GM/Cadillac) in 1966 and Ice Blue Metallic (Ford/Comet Mercury) in 1967. The Fender Telecaster, along with the Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul, is one of the most iconic electric guitars in modern music history. The Avril Lavigne Telecaster has no neck position pickup, with a dual-coil humbucker pickup in the bridge position. Our vintage Telecaster® replacement bridges follow traditional bridge specifications for Telecaster® with a single coil bridge pickup. During these years, Fender spoke to many professional musicians and although he was not a guitar player himself, was able to gain an understanding of the issues they were experiencing and thought about possible solutions. The guitar also sports American Vintage Tele Single-Coil Pickups with special staggered alnico 5 magnets and Muddy Waters Signature on the Neckplate. It replicates Jeff Beck’s 1954 model Esquire. In February 1967, Page added eight round mirrors to the body of the guitar and subsequently in mid-1967, Page removed the mirrors, stripped the guitar down to bare wood, and painted a green, orange, yellow, blue and red swirling psychedelic dragon.
